A well-known, consumer products company is hiring an Accounting Manager to assist with the rapid growth of their organization. This market leader provides its employees a dynamic work environment and culture that is the envy of the industry. Under the direct supervision of the Corporate Controller, this position will manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, which includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have a combination of public accounting and corporate accounting experience, specifically have worked/audited retail companies or distribution companies; Detailed knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition and COGS is required for this role.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and support of budget activities.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data, including revenue and expenditure variance analysis, and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Assist Controller in the development and management of accounting principles, policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits.
  • Ensure department objectives are met timely and with the highest level of quality and accuracy.
  • Motivate, coach, and develop all employees within the department. Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory function
  •  

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience in the Retail or Distribution
