Accounting Manager Roles & Responsibilities

 

The Accounting Manager role requires wearing multiple hats, which creates multiple opportunities for contribution and professional growth. The role requires self-motivation, initiative, and great management skills to succeed in our rapidly growing company.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of company accounting and bookkeeping, as well as all back-office activities including HR, staffing, AR/AP, communications and Company Licenses and Certifications. The Accounting Manager works closely with operations and the Project Management Team.

The ability to straddle more than one functional area: finance, human resources, IT, building management, marketing and recruiting is strongly preferred.

 

Job Summary

 

Establish and implement short-term and long-term company goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

Maintain financial models for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and monthly reporting on company operations. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.

Assist in analyzing financial statements for areas of profit improvement and recommend action.

Review variances on reconciliation of credit card accounts and bank statements.

Manage A/R and A/P processes. Assist in production of weekly reporting.

Manage period close, ensure general ledger is accurate, and complete balance sheet reconciliations.

Work with project managers to create project budgets; track those budgets under a scheduled routine of WIP analysis and job cost tracking, including material and labor costs.

Ensure digital and paper filing system is logical, well organized and maintained.

Handle the day-to-day HR issues including payroll, benefit administration, training, FMLA/Worker’ Comp issues, and regulatory compliance staffing.

Review and approve payroll reports to payroll provider.

Maintain and oversee compensation budget and monthly actual payroll reconciliation.
