Parker+Lynch is conducting a direct hire search for an Assistant Controller in Scottsdale, AZ! Our client is in the real estate development and property management space, and they’re currently in a substantial growth period. We’re looking for someone that is eager to advance their career and be with a company long-term. You must have your degree in accounting, along with real estate development (building) experience. Yardi software experience is also required.

As an Assistant Controller, you’ll role will be all-encompassing, handling monthly-close functions, project accounting tasks and light supervision of 1-2 employees. You’ll also support the Controller daily with Ad Hoc analysis and other special requests.

Compensation is up to $100k and medical/dental/vision benefits are offered, along with 401k match.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reconcile balance sheets and GL accounts
  • Act as the liaison between internal and external audit teams to help drive audit readiness
  • Reconcile monthly expenses, perform budget to actual variance analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Perform inter-company transfers and consolidate financials between various entities
  • Oversee a team of 2-3 employees: training, approving entries/transactions and analyzing employee metrics
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and yearly taxes, verifying that state and federal guidelines are met
  • Support the Controller with Ad Hoc projects and other special requests
  • Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Real estate development experience required
  • Proficiency in Excel; Yardi Voyager or other Yardi experience required
  • Ability to wear multiple hats, strong prioritization skills and strategic thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills
