Parker and Lynch is seeking an Assistant Controller who is a qualified, highly motivated team player to support the day-to-day operations and growth of the accounting department with a growing company in the construction industry. Reporting directly to the CFO and CEO, the Assistant Controller makes recommendations, implements and evaluates appropriate internal controls, along with the production of accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and Company policies.   • Prepare month end financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with budget maintenance.
  • Assist with year-end reconciliations and audits.
  • Prepare and enter General Ledger journal entries each month.
  • Assist in preparing monthly Work-In-Process Schedule.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers each month to provide updated forecasts for their jobs.
  • Prepare accounts receivable reports.
  • Maintain Daily Cash Activities.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable.
  • Review Job Cost Management Reports for each project monthly to determine necessary allocations to be made.
  • Calculate and enter Job Cost journal entries for various allocations, ensuring equal distribution over the length of the projects for certain cost codes.
  • Assist and coordinate with Warehouse Manager on maintaining tool and material inventories.


  • Bachelor’s degree, accounting major or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience with Lien Releases, Prevailing Wage, and Certified Payroll required
  • 1-5 years construction accounting experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including the ability to read, interpret, and apply new accounting standards.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong Excel and QuickBooks skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and looking for a growth opportunity.
  • Must be flexible and willing to pick up any project assigned and run with it.
  • Must be motivated to seek opportunities to increase efficiencies and continually improve processes and procedures.
