Assistant Controller

Parker + Lynch is recruiting for an Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager for a well-established nonprofit in Albuquerque New Mexico.  This role is for a permanent placement supervising a team of 5 staff.  This role will report directly to the CFO and be a member of the leadership team of the organization.

 

Target base salary is between 70k and 90k with favorable benefit package.   

 

This individual will be responsible for the following;

  • Oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, implement new accounting standards
  • Month end close and financial reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual)
  • Take a lead on implementing and maintaining accounting systems and software
  • Review and post complex month end journal entries
  • Point of contract for outside CPA (annual audit and tax)
  • Review corporate and state tax filings
  • Responsible for State and local taxes (20 states)
  • AP, AR, payroll and banking supervision responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions
  • Supervise staff of 5 to 6
  • Strong professional demeanor with staff, clients and co-workers
  • Report presentation and ad hoc reporting
  • Additional tasks as needed

 

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager role include:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience 
  • 3+ years of leading an accounting department
  • Prior public accounting industry knowledge strongly desired
  • Strong Microsoft office suite
