Parker+Lynch have been retained by a venture backed organization the Baltimore area who are in search of a hands-on CFO to build out their accounting and finance function and provide strategic analysis in support of their tremendous growth. This company is in an innovative space and looking for someone who has experience within a startup as well as running a larger organization.

Required qualifications:

  • 10 + years of strong corporate accounting and finance experience of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in accounting or finance preferred. MBA highly desired
  • CPA, Big 4 experience, and/or recent experience developing a finance and accounting function
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills working cross departmentally as well as with other holding companies and key stakeholders to include vendors, customers and other partners
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities and understanding of process improvement, strong problem-solving skills
  • Appreciation and understanding of the startup culture; comfortable with ambiguity, self-directed and able to wear multiple hats
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance and other accounting theory, principles, and practices to include GAAP, prepaid expenses & accrued revenue, ASC 605: Revenue Recognition, ASC 985605: Software Revenue Recognition, ASC 805: Business Combinations and ASC 718: Stock Based Compensation
  • Solid experience with financial analysis and forecasting, preparing statistical reports and making recommendations based on analysis and research.
  • Proven experience leading, managing, and hiring a team

  • Responsibilities include:

  • All accounting and financial operations including the general ledger, revenue, AP/AR, research and development accounting and cash flow management.
  • Set up of internal controls, reporting systems with an eye toward both reporting actual results and forecasting future periods.
  • Preparation of accurate and timely information for management and investors.
  • Monthly/yearend GAAP financial reports and internal reporting.
  • Coordinate monthly/quarterly filings and yearly tax returns, periodic governmental filings, registrations, business, and tax licenses, etc.
  • Prepare yearend working papers for each entity to be submitted to independent CPA firm for income tax preparation.
  • Work with Sr Management and Operations Managers to ensure financial directives are followed.
  • Observe and analyze financial data to determine pricing decisions, formulate strategies, lower costs, increase profits, and help grow the business.
