Parker + Lynch is seeking a Corporate Controller for our well-established manufacturing client located Detroit, MI. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial close process, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting, tax reporting, information technology and some administrative functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all finance and accounting operations including general ledger close, financial statement preparation, cost and inventory accounting, billing, A/R and A/P.
  • Prepare monthly process cost and detailed general ledger analyses
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts with assistance of department managers
  • Prepare year-end schedules for the company’s external review and assist external accountants as required
  • Maintain fixed asset records
  • Oversee all tax reporting activities
  • Assist all departments with ERP system utilization
  • Establish, monitor and enforce accounting policies and procedures
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business; CPA, CMA or MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting leadership roles including financial statement preparation, manufacturing experience with solid understanding of cost
  • Understand all facets of Accounting functions and able to direct the work of others
  • Prior ERP software experience
  • Solid understanding of advanced accounting principles and ability to apply
  • Able to consistently meet deadlines, particularly around the month-end cycle
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Accuracy and precision with attention to detail
  • Strong-problem solving skills
  • Able to work well with personnel at all levels
  • Proven effective communication skills, oral and written
  • Results oriented
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direction
