Parker+Lynch is seeking a Controller to join a Washington DC-based non profit organization with a global impact. The role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will oversee the completion of ledger and financial transactions while managing other accounting staff. 


  • Manage the accounting team and their related functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing/billing, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger maintenance
  • Recruit, hire, and train accounting staff 
  • Continually update, implement, and monitor internal controls that ensure segregation of duties within accounting functions
  • Oversee the relationships with outside audit firms and tax preparers
  • Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations
  • Monitor bank balances and account activity
  • Review accounts payable entries, accounts receivable entries, and payroll disbursements
  • Review monthly expense reporting for adherence to organizational policies
  • Coordinate the requests of information to external auditors for annual audit and tax preparation
  • Monitor budget performance and report meaningful variances to CFO
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Active CPA license
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including experience in non-profit organizations
  • Proficient with MS office software (Excel, Word)
  • Sage Intacct experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with, Expensify are preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve complex accounting and finance problems
  • Demonstrates the ability prioritize competing deadlines, take initiative, and make sound decisions
  • Collaborative and flexible by nature
