Parker+Lynch are working with a large, publicly traded conglomerate who are in search of a hands on Controller for one of their subsidiaries in the MD area.  This is an ideal job for someone who has experience with the federal government contract process and working knowledge of FAR as well as inventory accounting/manufacturing experience. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of journal entries, reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and variance analysis related to the financial statements in support of a timely month end close
  • Assist with development of accounting reports in NetSuite
  • Support bid and proposal activities and contract negotiations
  • Manage the valuation of inventory work in progress, and finished goods at month-end. O
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the month end close, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and variance analysis of the financial statements.
  • Analyze product/job cost trends and determine potential issues and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with the development of the accounting reports and functionality of the company’s enterprise resource planning software, NetSuite.
  • Support Bid and Proposal Activities from a financial planning and pricing perspective.
  • Support Contract Negotiations and Development/Review of Contractual Obligations.
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare supporting schedules for internal and external (SEC) reporting and for use in the preparation of the tax provision and tax return.
  • Provide financial, administrative, and operational support, particularly in the areas of cost and inventory control as well as process improvement.
  • Ensure local tax and regulatory filings and compliance
  • Manage local human resource requirements in conjunction with Corporate support, to include new hire onboarding, terminations, payroll, benefits administration, and performance management.
  • Other related ad-hoc reporting and analysis as necessary.
  • Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s Degree in Accounting or CPA is a plus
  • Ten plus years of relevant hands on experience, including strong cost accounting
  • Experience with Federal Government contracting processes
  • NetSuite preferred
