Parker + Lynch is seeking a Controller to manage our client’s accounting and human resources departments in Sacramento, CA. This opportunity is great for someone who is driven, adaptable, and excited about the prospect of taking on increasing levels of responsibility and growing in their career! In this role, you will have 2-4 direct reports across accounting/finance and HR, and you will have the opportunity to coach and develop your team while also maximizing efficiencies, creating and implementing policies, and reporting to a stellar CFO.


  • Manage the overall direction, coordination, and performance of the Accounting/Finance and HR Departments. Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of 2-4 team members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sub-consultant management, purchase orders, human resources, and participate in the corporate health & safety program.
  • Work closely with department managers and their team members, to educate and inform them regarding finance and accounting procedures and explore how the finance function can support operational needs associated with sustaining rapid business growth targets.
  • Leverage strengths of current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with Current CPA license desired
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and supervisory capacity (A/E/C industry experience preferred)
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of construction accounting including billing, processing of payment applications, collections, change order management and project reporting of actual spend to budget.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to build relationships of trust within the workforce; upwards, by creating a strong bond with the senior management team, and outwards, by developing positive interactions with suppliers and customers
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations applicable to the construction industry; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints. Effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics to top management.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all accounting, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements.
