Director of Accounting

We’re currently partnering with a mid-sized manufacturing organization in Cherry Hill, NJ on a search for a Director of Accounting. In this role you will be responsible for hands-on accounting of fixed assets and depreciation, prepare monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, inventory, payroll deductions and accrued liabilities accounts, and implementing new accounting policies and procedures.


  • Oversee the general accounting function, which includes cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management, inter-company accounting, and royalty management.
  • Ensure that credit risk is balanced with business objectives, targets are met and that only valid claims with proper management authorization are paid.
  • Verify that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected.
  • Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities. At times, this may include involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions/dispositions.
  • Maintain company financial records in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.
  • Prepare company financial reports in accordance with policies and directives and US GAAP
  • Supervises the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation.
  • Maintain Financial Accounting systems including validating/designing suggested changes to ensure accounting requirements continue to be met.
  • Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company's financial records.
  • Over time hire, manage and develop the accounting team as the company grows


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
  • 7+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • Understanding of SEC reporting
  • Advanced Excel, ERP system knowledge (preferably SAP)
