Financial Controller job opening in Sacramento, CA 

Long established private real estate development and investment firm has an immediate opening for a full-time Financial Controller/In-House Accounting Manager.

This seasoned business professional, in collaboration with executive leadership, is responsible for executing the financial analysis for the company’s real estate and operational activities for a diversified growing portfolio.

Essential Functions

  • Manage accounting and finances for property management, real estate purchases and development projects.
  • Oversee other internal Accounts Payable and Receivable departments and functions as required, some personal assets overlap.
  • Prepare, on a timely basis, all routine financial reports, consolidated financials, and analyses, for review and approval of key executives.
  • Monitor the cash position of the organization and plans for the maintenance of adequate funds through cash and other financial budgets and forecasts to meet ongoing operating needs.
  • Work with the outside accountant in preparing monthly financial statements and annual tax returns.
  • Ensure that overall operations are in compliance with local, state, federal regulations.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5 - 10 years business administration, accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax emphasizing real estate partnerships.
  • Experience in the real estate industry highly preferred, strong understanding of depreciation preferred and Commercial Real Estate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, and/or an equivalent degree, CPA a plus.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to produce high quality results
  • Experience managing, mentoring and motivating a team of direct reports, with the ability to dive into the details and fully understand the business and current state processes, with an eye on identifying process improvement and efficiency opportunities.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with ability to influence people and drive process improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation development and public speaking.
  • High level of professionalism and standards and strong character.
  • Hours flexible, full time.
