Financial Controller

Parker and Lynch is currently seeking a Financial Controller with 5 or more years of experience for a full-time job at an established client in Charlotte, NC. This is a great permanent role that offers the opportunity to oversee the Accounting Department, as well as the ability to collaborate with various levels of management across the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage, evaluate, and support the monthly accounting close process. 
  • Manage and support the Accounting Department to complete all monthly financial close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules and analyses, and prepare preliminary financial statements for review.
  • Responsible for annual audit. 
  • Oversee and support the Accounting Department to achieve all third-party audit requests, manage communications with auditors, and direct responses to all auditor requests.
  • Support the Director of Accounting in carrying out monthly financial statement reports, supporting analyses, forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Oversee various daily department activities through management of the accounting team, including AP/AR, Purchase Orders, Cash Control, Expense Reporting
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls to guarantee the integrity of all accounting systems, processes, and financial data.
  • Support the Director of Accounting in tax-related activities by collaborating with 3rd party vendors the accurate and timely completion of all property, sales, and other tax filings and payments.
  • Prepare and issue annual W9 forms to 1099 contractors and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls to guarantee the integrity of all accounting systems, processes, and financial data.
  • Continuously evaluate internal reporting, processes, and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes.
  • Responsible for monitoring, coordinating, and providing information required to maintain and renew corporate insurance policies. Provide relevant information to the Director of Accounting at time of policy renewals.
  • Effectively manage a team of 3, including Staff Accountant, AR Analyst and AP Clerk. 
  • Collaborate with management to proactively identify and resolve problems.
  • Support a variety of special projects as needed.
  • Delegate projects and other related tasks
  • Review and evaluate quality, accuracy, work methods and procedures

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Master’s degree or CPA certification ideal.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, 3 of which must be at a manager level or higher.
  • Must have prior experience with inventory and cost accounting.
  • Must be able to proactively and successfully manage a team to complete projects on time in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • QuickBooks or similar accounting or ERP experience required.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work efficiently and independent of supervision.
