Financial Reporting Manager

Overview

The Financial Reporting Manger prepares financial statements and footnotes for internal and external financial reporting, ensures that the financial statements are in compliance with IFRS, prepares accounting policy memos, researches accounting issues, is the primary contact for external auditors, and assists with the monthly financial statement closes and internal monthly reporting.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare annual and quarterly financial statements and footnotes for quarterly and annual filings with the Canadian Securities Exchange
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements for internal and external reporting.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and provide information as requested.
  • Develop accounting policies that are in compliance with IFRS and prepare accounting policy memos as support for these policies.
  • Research accounting issues and implement new accounting policies as required.
  • Assist with monthly financial statement closes by preparing journal entries and reviewing financial statements.
  • Prepare the consolidated financial statements including eliminating journal entries.
  • Balance intercompany accounts.
  • Account for acquisitions and business combinations.
  • Review goodwill and other assets for impairment.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed CPA with at least two years of experience as an auditor with an accounting firm. Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm preferred.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP or IFRS, and SEC or Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience working as or for external auditors and reviewing or maintaining internal controls.
  • Strong financial and accounting background, including an understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management and general finance and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor of Science in Finance or Accounting or an MBA.
  • Familiarity with consolidation software and QuickBooks.
  • Strong Excel skills.
