Position:           Indirect Tax Manager (could also be a Senior Tax Analyst)

Location:          Eugene, OR (2 days per week in office, with social distance)

Relo:                Moving services, grossed up for tax

Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for all indirect tax compliance and audits, including sales & use tax, gross receipts tax, property tax.  You will also be involved in systems improvement and implementation, and coordination with other departments to properly address indirect tax implications.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales & use tax compliance process to meet all deadlines and process payments on time.
  • Handle sales & use tax audits, including preparation of responses to taxing authorities and audit result summary for management review.
  • Maintain and reconcile sales & use tax liabilities on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Update current tax rules and tax legislation changes to comply with applicable tax rates and other tax reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze notices from various taxing authorities and coordinate the proper responses.
  • Assist with preparation of property tax returns, assessments bills, property tax audits.
  • Assist with preparation of annual property tax accruals.
  • Assist with and support the sales tax automation project; Develop strategies and process improvement plans.
  • Review vendor invoices submitted through AP on a daily basis to ensure the proper sales & use tax application.

    Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Accounting or related field.  
  • Minimum 5+ years’ work experience in sales/use tax return preparation and remittance required.
  • Preferred minimum 5+ years’ work experience in real/personal property tax return preparation and remittance required.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in all matters.
  • Ability to work well with a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and change priorities with short notice.
  • Strong tax operations knowledge and familiarity of state and local tax issues for a domestic dealership.
  • Experience with technical tax laws, regulations and interpreting tax laws.
