Payroll Manager

My client just added a Controller to their growing team and due to the high growth trend they will be bringing in their union payroll in-house so they’re adding a Payroll Manager in the Chicagoland area. The ideal person has led the entire Payroll department of union and non-union employees. 


  • Has led the process on bringing payroll in-house
  • 5-10 years of experience  
  • Union payroll experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related
  • Experience with CMIC is highly preferred


  • Main contact and leader of the entire payroll department
  • Compile reports as required by management, union, and government agencies regarding employee payroll issues
  • Prepare and process wage garnishments and child support withholdings, research issues related to the processing of such claims
  • Updates payroll records and in charge of exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and personnel changes
  • Assist in month-end close with journal entries and payroll general ledger accounts
  • Support the quarter-end and year-end processing, including the filing of W2, 941s and1099s.

Employment type: Full time, Direct-hire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30-5:30 with flexibility, as needed

Compensation: Market competitive; $60K - $70K + bonus
