Job Objective:  This position is responsible for directing the financial and cost accounting activities of the plant while providing timely and accurate support and analysis aimed at improving earnings and reducing working capital. This role will interact with all functional areas of the plant and will provide essential guidance on understanding and quantifying profit improvement activities.


Job Duties:

  1. Safety:
  • Supports the plant safety program and demonstrates commitment to obtain an injury free workplace.


  1. Reporting and analysis; Driving plant profitability and return on capital:
  • Performs and monitors the plant’s monthly closing process in conjunction with the Accounting team to ensure all reporting deadlines are consistently met.
  • Reviews AR subledger to minimize aged AR, works with requisite departments to ensure customers pay within contracted terms, resolves issues as they arise, and prepares timely reports as required.
  • Works with commercial teams, and plant personnel to minimize aged inventory, and prepare timely reports as required.
  • Reviews profitability at the job, technology, and customer level to support plant results.
  • Communicates results effectively to management and non-financial personnel
  • Provides insightful analytics that support decision making and prioritizing resources
  • Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast


  1. Operations planning:
  • Participates in the development of plant objectives that are aligned to Division strategic objectives
  • Partners with the Plant Management Team in developing plans to drive and measure productivity improvements
  • Assists the Division Controller with financial planning and budgeting processes


  1. Financial and Operational Controls:
  • Ensures that there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls associated with financial reporting and statements, segregation of duties, inventory valuation and reserves; physical inventories, fixes assets, and budgeting while adhering to company policies and governmental regulations
  • Assists the Division Controller with the review and maintenance of work center rates and machine standards
  • Ensures understanding and accountability for internal controls and that processes are followed.
  • Initiates changes or improvements to controls when efficiency or effectiveness can be improved or as required for statutory purposes.
  • Coordinates and manages audits (internal/external) as needed.
  • Oversee other statutory audits (state, local, or country specific) where the company does business.

  • Work across organization boundaries to achieve plant, division or corporate objectives by fostering a service oriented and business partner approach.
  • Develops and shares best practices (i.e. process improvements, financial modeling, and procedures changes.)
  • Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management, establishment of clear goals and objectives, talent evaluation systems and utilization of people.
  • Acts as a resource to the non-financial leaders of the business providing education and training on the key principles of Finance
  • Invests in the growth and development of their direct reports and other identified talent in their organization.


Experience/Skills Required:              

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or Business required 
  • Experience as a leader and Financial Manager required; Cost Accounting background very helpful.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and present findings, providing guidance to the management team on complex or controversial topics.
  • Strong with Microsoft Office (Particularly Excel - including ability to input formulas, perform analysis, create pivot tables, etc. on complex data).
  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion preferred.
  • College level math including accounting and analysis.  Proven experience with budgets, financial statements, financial analysis, etc.
  • Rational, fact-driven decision making skills.
  • High level of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Experience leading projects, delegating, and seeing problems through to resolution.
  • Articulate and clear in written and verbal communication.
