Our client, a DC based private equity firm, is seeking a key member of the tax team  to work closely with colleagues at all levels, including, investment professionals, financial, investor relations, legal and compliance.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and manage the annual and quarterly tax compliance process for all Firm-managed funds and associated vehicles
  • Review federal, multi-state and foreign filings for partnerships and corporations
  • Determine proper withholding on foreign investors
  • Compute tax carry for funds that are structured to generate carried interest to the Manager
  • Prepare quarterly blocker corporate tax provisions
  • Review deconsolidated books of underlying entities set up for specific deal structuring
  • Review GAAP books for proper recording of tax related expenses and distributions
  • Identify book and tax differences to reconcile taxable income
  • Oversee FATCA and CRS registration and reporting
  • Provide support in dealing with IRS and local jurisdiction audits
  • Research and respond to federal, state and foreign tax notices
  • Respond to investor questions regarding K1s or distributions
  • Review and liaise with foreign tax providers to complete local jurisdiction reporting 
  • Liaise with portfolio company tax contacts to monitor activity and coordinate reporting
  • Lead the review of existing compliance technology solutions to determine appropriate future technology solution requirements
  • Undertake tax research to understand domestic and international positions and the impact those positions have on global effective tax rate
  • Work closely with investment teams to understand terms of investments during the origination process as well as understanding terms of any workout/restructuring

  • Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years' tax experience in public accounting, or a combination of public accounting and industry with strong partnership tax
  • Technical base of federal, state and international tax principles with a focus on partnerships
  • Experience with foreign investors and withholding
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Solid knowledge of tax accounting and GAAP reporting principles
  • Familiarity with carried interest and waterfall calculations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA Certification or CPA exam eligible with a strategic plan
  • Experience with Alteryx or very advanced Excel, including macros
