Overview

The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the finance team and will have responsibility for accounting functions across all distribution channels, including retail, wholesale and e-commerce.  He/She/They will coordinate monthly close activities as well as provide general support to the local international accounting partners.  The Senior Accountant will promote maximum fiscal responsibility, safeguard the Company’s assets and ensure compliance with established accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Significant participant in the month-end closing, including journal entry preparation and related analysis of asset, liability, revenue and expense accounts
  • Preparation and maintenance of account reconciliations, both balance sheet and P&L, with resolution of all reconciling items
  • Preparation and maintenance of monthly sales files for manual retail sales posting for US and Canadian stores
  • Reconciliation of retail tender and cash receipts, partnering with Sales Audit as needed to properly account for all activity
  • Preparation of monthly payroll entries, inclusive of commission, etc.
  • Preparation of entries related to prepaid assets/amortization, travel related expenses, and various accruals/reclasses.
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and other balance sheet account analyses
  • Focus on creative/marketing/advertising cost centers for account analyses working with the related department contacts and FP&A to ensure proper accounting of activity
  • Be able to explain and support monthly expense account variances versus prior year, forecast and budget, and prepare and review monthly account reconciliations (accruals, prepaids, etc.)
  • Provide analytical support for year-end audits including preparing audit working paper, gathering support for testing and leading procedural walk-throughs of select accounting procedures
  • Assist with various ad-hoc projects (new business implementation, process improvements, etc.)
  • Improve on process documentation
  • Qualifications

  • 3+ years accounting experience in retail environment strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting, accrual basis of accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Highly organized. Maintains the highest standards of accuracy and precision.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger ERP System, Oracle experience is a definite plus
  • Education

    BS in Accounting required,
