Leading Financial Services firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to assist the daily operations of our Washington, DC based Accounting Department. The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for assisting in Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounting. This is a hands-on position requiring technical and communication skills as well as knowledge and abilities in all accounting principles and practices. Duties include processing Accounts Payable invoices and expense reports as well as serving as the backup for payroll processing under the supervision of the Payroll Manager. In addition, the role is expected to assist in any accounting functions or activities throughout the monthly accounting process. This position will report to the Controller and will have growth opportunities within accounting and finance.


  • Manage daily operations in Accounting by managing and coordinating daily activities in Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Payroll. Will assist the Controller in the month end closing process
  • Assist Accounting Manager to review and research accounting issues, invoices and expense reports
  • Process Accounts Payable invoices and expense reports
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger corporate credit cards on a regular basis
  • Complete month end general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Accrue all vendor and subcontractor invoices.
  • Assist during the semi-monthly Payroll cycle and serve as a backup for the Payroll Manager
  • Work with employees and ADP to resolve any payroll related issues
  • Interface with external vendors, customers and auditors as required
  • Work closely with the Accounting Manager, Payroll Manager, Accounting Specialist and the Controller to support the Accounting Department
  • Assist the Controller with month end and year end activities and all audits and tax schedules
  • Assist with the completion of special Accounting and Finance projects including DCAA audits
  • Maintain financial records to include all asset, revenue, expense, liability, and tax-related activities
  • Report monthly and quarterly sales and use tax


  • Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Position requires a minimum 3-6 years of relevant work experience
  • Government Contracting experience a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting and finance principles and practices, including but not limited to GAAP, FAR, and DFARS
  • Knowledge of SCA contracts and compliance requirements is a plus
  • A meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience with Unanet, or other major Government Contracting software, and ADP Workforce is a must
  • Highly developed organizational skills, sound business judgment, excellent communication skills, and a team-oriented attitude.
