A large, growing consumer goods company in Central San Diego is looking to hire a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting to their team. In this role you will support the Director with a variety of accounting/finance tasks to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities:

 

  • Preparation of quarterly and annual reporting documents in accordance US GAAP to meet our debt agreement requirements including financial statements, footnotes, MD&A and other disclosures consistent with public company requirements
  • Actively maintain, update and optimize our financial reporting tool by leveraging technology to create effective, accurate and reliable external reporting documents; and also prepare, maintain and update supporting schedules and electronic tie-out files to support all externally published documents
  • Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations related to moderately complex accounts, and perform analysis to ensure complete and accurate accounting treatment. Work cross-functionally with outside departments to ensure that appropriate assumptions are being used. Identify, research and evaluate variances and follow-through to resolution
  • Actively manage special projects for a broad range of transactions and initiatives, including the research and documentation associated with various accounting topics such as revenue recognition, asset impairments lease accounting, etc
  • Main contact for external auditors and various accounting consultants, acting as the primary liason with the accounting team to establish schedules, set priorities, coordinate deliverables and resolve inquiries
  • Support internal close process by generating, updating and reconciling internal financial reports through key accounting systems.
  • Work with the accounting team and cross-functionally to continue to improve existing processes either through automation or re-design of existing business practices to eliminate redundant or non-value added work to keep pace with company growth.
  • Provide professional verbal and written correspondence; working collaboratively with several internal/external partners; including legal, real estate development, restaurant accounting, external and internal auditors, property owners and franchisees.
  • Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications:

     

  • Bachelor in Finance, Accounting or similar field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting and/or audit experience
  • Experience in a large, national public accounting firm preferred
  • CPA or progress towards a license
  •
