Senior Staff Accountant

Parker+Lynch is looking for a consultant immediately while they find the full time employee. Healthcare company in Phoenix that is growing rapidly, $150 million in revenue and this role will report to the VP of Finance.

The Opportunity:

The position of Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in a very dynamic, quickly growing and energetic healthcare related company.  The Senior Staff Accountant will perform a variety of accounting functions on a consolidated and operating unit basis.  A combination of strong technical, problem solving, oral and written communication skills will be leading indicators for success in this role.   The company offers the right candidate a competitive compensation and benefits plan.


  • Assist the VP of Finance directly with monthly closing routines and processes
  • Prepare and input recurring and special GL entries into accounting systems for all entities
  • Track and record periodic activity related to fixed assets and related depreciation schedules, prepaid, deferred, deposit and accrued accounts
  • Compile and analyze monthly GL reconciliations, including multi banking arrangements, inter company postings, daily cash, credit card and EFT activity
  • Supervise staff in coding, input and process of accounts payable invoices, including preparation of periodic accounts payable disbursement
  • Supervise staff in tracking and posting of periodic payroll cycles, both into Excel and Accounting system
  • Daily posting of all bank activity, including weekly cash tracking reporting and monthly reconciliation for multi banking environment
  • Coordinate and resolve various issues with banks such as cleared check differences, bank fee and deposit anomalies
  • Communicate and interact with accounting and other personnel at company operating sites, for any and all related cash and accounting related issues
  • Conduct detailed research and transaction analysis, for problem solving and entry preparation, both on a periodic and ad hoc basis
  • Assist in preparation of audit schedules, worksheets, research and analysis
  • Assist VP of Finance and CFO in performing special projects as assigned, to assist in weekly, monthly, quarterly management reporting and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives.


  • Thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university, preferably within the U.S.
  • Four to six years progressively responsible experience in the accounting and healthcare industry, preferably in a multi-location environment, healthcare related experience is a plus
  • Strong demonstrated experience in accounting and analytical skills with high attention to detail, working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced and varied computer skills and use of various types of systems, including intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and FRx or similar programs, QuickBooks is a plus but not required
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills is a must.
