Parker + Lynch is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join the accounting team with a manufacturing company in the Greater Sacramento Area. The Sr. Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing financial information regarding all company activities that will assist management in making educated economic decisions and forecasting future business initiatives. General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries, including but not limited to:
  • Inter-company transactions, including eliminations;
  • Payroll entries;
  • All needed accruals including landed cost and prepaids.
  • Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance:
  • Daily cash reconciliations;
  • Review AP &AR transactions and processes for accuracy, and recommend ways to improve efficiency
  • Research and correct anomalies in financial reporting
  • Apply accepted accounting principles in maintaining construction in progress (CIP) and fixed asset reporting schedules and provide management reporting on projects;
  • Set up and maintain filing system for month-end close folders, account reconciliations, insurance and property tax schedules; other areas as needed.
  • Offer suggested improvements and innovate as approved by management;

Key Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Microsoft office including Excel is required

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, advanced financial principles, analysis, and business theories;
  • 5+ years of experience in general accounting
  • Professional level written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in multi-company accounting preferred
  • Experience through financial statement preparation
  • Experience with external audits
  • Experience in Microsoft NAV or other Great Plains products preferred.
