Overview

The Staff Accountant performs various technical accounting functions and analytical reviews for a designated accounting area. This position also helps the business unit achieve goals, anticipate needs, and resolve problems.

Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: Financial Controller
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support Month end and year end closing process
• Record necessary accruals
• Prepare and maintain amortization schedules
• Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness
• Explain unusual trends in financial statements
• Analyze balance sheet accounts and prepare reconciliations
• Assist with external audit requests and compile data
• Responsible for all aspects of tax from reporting, filing, registering, and performing nexus studies
• Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
• Assist with forecasting and budgeting
• Recommend ways to reduce cost or improve processes
• Perform daily cash flow analysis and ensure cash reconciliations are timely
• Document workflow and work procedures
• Provide accounting support for mergers and acquisitions
• Maintain up-to-date accounting guidelines, research guidelines and read professional publications
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Economics and Accounting - Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
• Worksheets & Programs – Proficient in understanding, creating, & using advanced excel formulas including macros, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, if statements, conditional programs, min/max formulas, etc.

Working Conditions / Education / EXPERIENCE

Working Conditions: Majority will be an inside office environment.
Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility.

Education and Formal Training:
• Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Business, Accounting or Finance; CPA / CMA a plus.

Experience:
• 5+ yrs. of accounting experience.
• Experience with SAP a plus
• Advanced skills in MS Excel Required.
• Manufacturing experience a plus.
• Auditing/public accounting experience a plus but not required.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge.
