Staff Accountant – Parker Lynch, New York NY

Summary

Our client is a privately owned and independent real estate investment, development, and management firm who is seeking for a highly motivated self-starter with an unparalleled work ethic for their Staff Accountant role. Responsible for all aspects of assigned General Ledger accounts; including journal entry process, account reconciliation and analysis of account balances. Responsible for several licensor reporting requirements. Prepares reports and analysis to meet audit and tax requirements. Assists in budgeting and forecasting process.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Accounts payable and project coding of invoices
  • Review and approve expense reports utilizing Concur
  • Prepare and enter journal entries in accounting software, including importing entries from excel
  • Reconcile commission account deliveries, credit cards, and cash deposits and work with the related Daily Sales Reports. 
  • Communicate with commercial department regarding daily sales report entry issues.
  • Maintain general ledger activity and reconcile between supporting schedules and general ledger activity
  • Preparing and analyzing trial balance, general ledger and check register reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year end financial reports.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, year-end journal entries, accruals, variance analysis, financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) and bank reconciliations.
  • Review tenant improvement disbursement requests, ensure they are complete and in compliance with lease documents
  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Assist in compiling information required in preparing construction loan draw requests.
  • Research and respond to internal and external accounting/financial questions and resolve issues.
  • Work as a team member, as well as individually, accepting full responsibility for the accounting of assigned task.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience in QuickBooks, Peachtree, Great Plains, Timberlane, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, SAP Accounting Software preferred.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numerical data; (Pivot Tables, v-lookups, MACROS).
  • Must be deadline focused, organized and exhibit problem-solving skills.  Able to handle multiple deadlines at the same time.
