Parker + Lynch is partnering with our client to find an experienced and driven Mortgage Underwriter to join their growing mortgage loan team in the Fairfax County, VA area. Responsibilities:
Manage underwriting mortgage files ensuring adherence to investor credit quality standards
Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet establishment and government standards
Coordinate underwriting activities with loan processing and loan closing to ensure loan requirements are met; notify loan production personnel of incomplete files to obtain appropriate information necessary to complete loan packages
Ensure and uphold fair lending practices; meet targets for productivity, quality and customer satisfaction
Analyze appraisals (including FHA, under DE program and SAR under VA program, Portfolio Jumbo). Review the fees appraiser's reports for completeness and conformity with industry-accepted appraisal practices and techniques and other Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and Veterans Administration (VA) requirements
Determine the reasonable value of the property and any conditions which must be met prior to VA guaranty of the loan
Provide support to Loan Officers and Processors regarding questions and/or clarification of inquiries, loan files, and underwriting guidelines
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance preferred
4+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
3+ years of VA and FHA Loan experience preferred
Skills:
Knowledge of FHA DE and SAR Designation
Experience with FHA Streamline and VA IRRLS
Knowledge of al GSE underwriting requirements as they pertain to TPO Lending
Strong understanding of operational responsibilities with loan assets and credit quality
Experience working with Jumbo Loans
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Capable of working in a fast-paced office environment
Employment Type: Full-time, Direct Hire
Compensation: $85,000 - $98,000 USD
Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
