Job Summary:

Accountable for the overall direction and operation of the controls and systems integration department, providing quality leadership and integrating individual member strengths and capabilities to effectively meet multiple project demands and requirements.

Major Accountabilities:

  1. Manages department by overseeing the scheduling and assigning of work to ensure timely completion and lead times that give us a competitive advantage.
  2. Reviews cost estimates/proposals for accuracy and technical risk exposure as required to support sales.
  3. Work effectively with sales resources in pursuing opportunities that result in corporate earnings growth.
  4. Improves margins by reducing costs and minimizing variation in actual versus estimated project costs (labor and materials).
  5. Drives software development standard adoption and champions the introduction of advanced engineering tools (SolidWorks Electrical, simulation software, etc.).
  6. Oversees and directs the IT department ensuring maximum uptime of company systems and ensures robust disaster recovery practices.
  7. Develops plans for and manages the procurement and installation of new network hardware, servers, computers, and software as assigned.
  8. Maintains and administers the security system, including the door access system and alarm system.
  9. Supports engineers in taking appropriate escalation actions and mediates resolution of conflicts as required to ensure project success.  Removes barriers to ensure team progress and facilitates rapid decision-making.
  10. Maintains and supports customer relations, increasing the probability of repeat business.
  11. Makes timely departmental staffing recommendations in line with work load and charged hour percentage to minimize overhead expenses from uncharged hours while ensuring adequate staffing to complete project requirements on schedule.
  12. Maintains an appropriately sized contingent workforce to meet peak workload demands.
  13. Recruits, trains, develops, coaches and retains highly qualified professional staff.  Maintains the morale of the department.
  14. Manages and documents employee performance and prepares associated recommendations.
  15. Creates a team environment that ensures alignment to company goals, instills a spirit of collaboration and reflects corporate values. Works effectively as a part of the management team and builds effective cross-functional relationships.
  16. Directs and plans continuous improvements activities to improve process flow and overall operational effectiveness.  Ensures that effective use is made of standard processes, procedures, supporting systems and software.
  17. Insures the department processes are documented, maintained and followed.
  18. Establishes short and long-range goals to lead the department to success in alignment with corporate objectives.
  19. Sets a good example with personal behaviors.

 

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor Science in Electrical Engineering.

 

Minimum Years of Experience Required:

Twelve (12) years engineering experience and five (5) years supervisory experience.
