  • Create specifications and drawings (schematics, loop sheets, panel drawings, etc.) for PLC and relay logic control systems used in industrial processing facilities.
  • Have a working knowledge of sanitary and industrial processes (e.g., CIP, HTST, DI water) and apply that knowledge to designs.
  • Be familiar with PLCs, operator interface programs, and variable frequency drives. Must have excellent working knowledge of how these devices function and communicate to control manufacturing processes. Must be able to program and configure these devices.
  • Develop detail designs of control panels. Supervise the fabrication of panels and perform final quality testing before shipping.
  • Possess thorough understanding of field sensors (flow, temperature, pressure, and level devices). Knowledge must include ability to field service and support devices
  • Proficient with appropriate tools to conduct design and field service work. This includes AutoCAD, plotters, MS Office products, electrical test equipment, and various other installation and testing tools.
  • Prepare quotes for customers. Create detailed bill of materials when required for quoting or construction.
  • Travel to customer sites for routine maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary. Maintain all necessary documentation in program.
  • Train other technicians as necessary to perform repairs and calibrations and service customer accounts.
  • Provide hands-on field installation and start-up assistance on assigned projects.
  • Supervise fabrication of control panels in shop as necessary.
  • Conduct training for customers on installed equipment. Create documentation to support installations.
  • Act as overall project manager on assigned jobs, or supply other project managers with control system designs as requested. Department Manager will set priorities if conflicts arise.
  • Participate in the development of departmental standards. Adhere to standards as they are created.
  • Project a positive, professional image to the customer, both internal and external.
  • The incumbent should keep current in the electrical controls and instrumentation field and follow all applicable codes in designs and constructions.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (Engineering discipline preferred)
  • 5 years engineering experience preferred
  • ISA-88 batch programming experience highly desirable
  • Experience with PLC (Allen Bradley / Siemens) and HMI coding required.
  • Willing to travel 35% +/- of the time
