Opportunity

Our client seeking an experienced  Data Scientist with advanced analytic and programming skills to join its growing team .

The Data Scientist works with internal and external clients on the valid and reliable applications of primary and secondary data, including survey data, administrative records, social media data, sensor and other available data, to answer complex technical questions. They will perform ETL on the data for advanced analyses and perform select analyses under the direction of senior staff. In addition, the successful candidate will independently and collaboratively develop sampling designs to develop sampling designs for data collection, communicating the strength and weaknesses of various analyses, identifying and applying appropriate analytic techniques across a range of data types.

The selected candidate must be an expert at programming, with preference given to experience with Python. In addition, experience with other analytic software such as R, Stata, SAS, or MATLAB is a plus.

The Data Scientist will work 100% remote.

 Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

The successful hire will be able to perform the following functions:

  • Perform data management tasks (data wrangling, cleaning, ETL) with administrative, survey and/or sample frame data as needed.
  • Ability to mentor junior professionals in data management and advanced analytic tasks
  • Lead and coordinate complex components of large projects or a series of smaller projects with responsibility for the application of advanced methods and techniques.
  • Must have proven technical expertise with both applied and theoretical work in the mathematical and data sciences.  This can be through publications, white papers, conference presentations, GitHub repositories, and/or R packages.
  • Successful candidate needs to have demonstrated experience working with large and/or complex datasets and multiple machine learning algorithms. 
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text mining.
  • Serve as a scientific/technical resource and supervise other staff in application of machine learning, NLP and other data science techniques and methods.  
  • Provide thought leadership through statistical & data science research
  • Preferred Skills and Prerequisites:

  • Experience deploying dashboards (Streamlit, DASH, Shiny)
  • Experience with statistical computing software such as SAS, Stata, or SPSS a plus.
  • Experience with cloud ML services (e.g. AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS tools such as Textract, Lex, Sagemaker, Lookout, and Amazon Rekognition
  • Experience with distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Experience with business intelligence systems such as Tableau, Spotfire, and PowerBI a plus.
  • Experience in business development, client relationship management and supervision/staff development a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to discuss analytic topics with lay audiences of different levels of analytic sophistication
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree + Nine years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Seven years of relevant experience, or PhD + Four years of relevant experience
