One of the largest importers and exporters to and from North America is looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join their company. The role is full time and will work across a range of different technologies in various areas of the business. The Desktop Support Engineer will be responsible for answering IT requests via email, phone, or instant message and must be able to explain solutions in technical and nontechnical terms.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Build and install PCs, wireless networks, telephone systems, and peripheral devices (printers, mobile phones, etc) according to standards.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers/users needing technical assistance over phone/email.
  • Conduct remote troubleshooting and set up accounts and permission access.
  • Supply accurate information on IT services and products.
  • Determine possible improvements on services and relay feedback from users to the appropriate team.
  • Manage network servers and tech tools, track server activity, perform software upgrades, maintain computer hardware, and evaluate system network functions. (Most work is done during regular hours. Occasionally, work must be completed during odd hours with new upgrades or fixes.)
  • Maintain systems according to requirements and monitor performance.
  • Ensure and manage security through backups, firewalls, and access controls.
  • Create an internal wiki for manuals, technical documentation, and IT policies.
  • Attend seminars and conferences occasionally to build new tech skills and explore latest trends.

    Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in Windows Server products, Windows 7, 8, 10, Mac OSX, and/or Mac OS
  • Solid knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and computer support
  • Microsoft and Cisco or other relevant certifications
  • Excellent customer service and able to establish good relationship with clients
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Flexible to work unsociable hours
  • Fluency in Spanish is a big plus
  • Able to travel to the company's plants across the country  (travel by auto or plane is required)
