A sports technology company in the US is looking for a Lead DNS Engineer with excellent troubleshooting and communication skills to join their DNS Operations team. The ideal candidate must have experience with performance analysis, systems architecture, and systems software. This role is fully remote.


 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure DNS issues are resolved on time with little to no impact on customers.
  • Consolidate and migrate DNS providers with engineering teams.
  • Determine cause of DNS and DHCP outages by performing high-level troubleshooting and implement permanent solutions.
  • Work with engineering teams to establish methods to improve service stability and decrease potential future outages.
  • Work with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems on servers.
  • Perform break/fix maintenance (DNS RFCs, patching, RMAs, builds, etc).
  • Perform code upgrades, config updates, hardware refreshes, and decommission.
  • Provide first-line customer support for DNS/DHCP issues.
  • Deploy and manage large-scale distributed server environments.

    Job Requirements:

  • High-level proficiency with BIND software, TCP/IP networking, core technologies (DHCP, HTTP, HTTPS, PKI, etc), and architecture
  • High-level knowledge and experience with load balancer configuration and troubleshooting (emphasis on F5)
  • Proficient in programming/scripting with Powershell, Python, Bash, Perl, Go, etc.
  • Expert in Linux authentication and authorization methods like Kerberos, NIS, LDAP, 2FA, Sudo, and etc
  • Excellent skills in network analysis tools, packet analysis, troubleshooting, and analytical fault diagnosis
  • Deep knowledge and experience working in a Unix/Linux environment (DNS, DHCP, NTP, SYSLOG, IPSec, SSH, etc)
  • TLS/SSL, encryption, and key management principles experience
  • Public Cloud platforms such as AWS, GPC, Azure, etc experience
  • DNS providers such as AWS Route 53, NS1, UltraDNS experience
  • Puppet, Ansible, Terraform configuration management experience
  • Deploying, customizing, and scaling monitoring solutions experience
  • Firewalls and access-list troubleshooting knowledge
  • Able to participate in an on-call rotation on weekends, holidays, etc.
