Senior Cloud Engineer

About this role:

Working on both a seasoned operations team and with cross-functional teams, you will deliver new capabilities and features to our award-winning SaaS products that serve public safety, healthcare, and Fortune 500 organizations.

As we shift to our next-generation architecture, your new features will be developed using cloud-native technologies, patterns, and philosophies, including AWS, Containerization, and DevOps/SRE. You’ll work closely with your product owner and a team of other software engineers to ensure that the SaaS product we’re delivering meets our industry-leading standards of quality.

What you would do in this role:

  • Work as a software engineer developing, delivering, and maintaining features such as infrastructure as code, our build and release platform, or customer-facing features
  • Contribute to our technology evolution by implementing new features using cloud-native patterns
  • Deliver your work in a reliable and maintainable manner by writing clean, testable code
  • Actively participate in planning work for the team via our scrum ceremonies
  • Identify ways to improve the team that you work with
  • Perform technical requirement gathering for new initiatives and features that the team takes on
  • Develop a deep empathy of our customers by getting to know them, the features they want, and how we can better serve their needs
  • What you need to know/have for this role:

  • Familiarity with one of PowerShell, Ruby, Bash, Python, Typescript, or C# (we really mean infrastructure as code)
  • Strong aptitude for a software development approach to infrastructure as code
  • Experience with AWS and cloud technologies in general
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux environments
  • You know about CI/CD and what makes a pipeline “good”
  • Desire to work in an operations environment that aspires to DevOps and SRE principals
  • Desire to have an impact on uptime and other relevant KPIs
  • Desire to contribute to the full stack of our technologies to deliver vertical slices of features
  • Experience with tools that support software development, such as source control, build automation, static code analysis, architectural KPIs, and so on
  • Knowledge of persistence technologies which include relational and/or non-relational databases
  • The ability to work as a team member to solve complex problems with your team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to contribute to cross-functional collaboration
  • You enjoy learning new things and never stop
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred

“Nice to have” - What could set you apart from other candidates:

  • You’ve worked on a multi-tenant SaaS or PaaS product
  • You’re already comfortable with C#, TypeScript, or both
  • You’ve had success containerizing applications
  • You have worked with Jenkins, MS build, and/or ephemeral build agents
  • You’ve delivered scalable solutions using cloud-native patterns and technologies, such as 12-factor app methodology
  • You understand and strive to contribute to a DevOps or SRE culture
  • You have experience with microservice architectures, service-oriented architectures, or other distributed architectures
  • You've worked in a “compliant” environment before (CJIS or FedRAMP for example)
  • You’ve been involved in migrating features from a monolithic application to other architectures
  • You find ways to creatively address tech debt and the challenges that it brings in your day-to-day work

  • Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled
