Parker + Lynch is seeking an Global Logistics Manager on behalf of a client located in Sacramento, CA. The Gloabl Logistics Manager  will work closely with partners domestically and internationally to esnure a smooth a streamligned freight process from manfacturers and warehouses to their customers. We are seeking a Global Logistics Manager with a strong background in ocean and land transportation on an international scale. 

Key Responisbilities:

  • Planning and supervising the shipments from production to the end-user
  • Scheduling daily and weekly routes
  • Tracking orders using functional systems (e.g. barcodes and tracking software)
  • Manage and negotiate inland freight, van loads, flat beds
  • Manage and negotiate 3PL warehouse rates
  • Negotiate and manage freight contracts
  • Negotiate and manage ocean rates and contracts
  • Manage Traffic, including movement of containers
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology to track traffic and logistics (Otis/Coms);software system to track, technology to coordinate logistics and transportation
  • Understanding port management technology 
  • Understanding ocean freight tracking technology
  • Monitor the movement of shipments to destination
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability, especially as it pertaions to special orders, inventory, air freight, and warehouse programs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams

  • Demonstrated ability to move and monitor inventory through customs, clearance, tariffs, and duty costs
  • Monitor and report on transportation costs
  • Ensure shipping documents are properly filed
  • Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
  • Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
  • Conduct regular safety audits on equipment
  • Organize training sessions for employees (e.g. proper use of machines and handling of hazardous material)
  • Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
  • Stay up-to-date with safety regulations
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a Transportation Manager, Shipping Manager or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain management
  • Experience preparing and tracking orders
  • Familiarity with logistics software, like Freightview and 3PLink
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise and train staff
  • BSc in Supply Chain, Logistics or relevant field
